TURMERIC & CHIA PALEO PROTEIN MUFFINS
It seems that Turmeric is becoming more and more mainstream these days, as both a supplement and an ingredient in many recipes. So when I saw this muffin recipe from Aloha, I just had to give it a try! These muffins are a combination of sweet, citrus, and an interesting kick of spiciness! Aloha protein is my protein of choice, but any vegan vanilla protein with clean ingredients should work.
If you aren't familiar with Turmeric, it is an orange-colored root which looks similar to the ginger root. It actually comes from the ginger family, and has been integrated in ancient Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian lifestyles for centuries. It's also known as nature's most powerful medicine and has been used to treat a wide range of illnesses. Turmeric's powerful properties can be used as an antiseptic or as an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent, among many other things. As a supplement, you will see it labeled as the phytonutrient "curcumin", which is the active ingredient in turmeric.
