Sue Merren is a Pilates and Fitness Professional, Performance & Nutrition Coach, and business owner, with over 25 years of combined experience in the field of corporate finance, and the health and fitness industry.

Originally from Vancouver, Sue left a corporate accounting career in 2000 to pursue her passion for helping others lead healthier lifestyles. She is now the owner of Balance Cayman (formerly Innovative Fitness, 2002), a boutique Pilates, Fitness, and Performance Coaching studio in the Cayman Islands. Having worked with dedicated clientele throughout various locations on Grand Cayman over the last several years, Sue had a vision of providing her clients with a “home away from home” setting for their one-on-one, duet, and small group sessions. In March, 2014, Sue opened the doors to Balance Cayman ~ an intimate, professional boutique fitness studio that offers clients a serene, friendly, results-oriented environment.

Her certifications include ACE Personal Trainer, Stott Pilates, TRX Core, Booty Barre® and several other specialty certifications including Pilates for Injuries & Special Populations, and Pilates for Buff Bones® (re Osteoporosis/bone health). Sue is currently apprenticing directly under the guidance of Rael Isacowitz, founder of the prestigious and world renowned BASI Pilates®. BASI is a leading Pilates education academy, with a reputation for innovation, dedication and academic excellence. Her calm, relaxed teaching style combined with her extensive training and experience makes clients feel comfortable and confident. Sue truly believes that movement is medicine for the mind, body, and spirit.

As a Performance & Nutrition Coach, Sue also holds certifications with Precision Nutrition, and Inside 80, allowing her the expertise to work with a wide range of clients from the busy CEO’s/executives, to the elite athlete, to the recreational exerciser. She helps her clients reach their peak performance and maximize their energy in all areas of their lives, especially in the areas of fitness and nutrition. As a business owner, wife, and parent, Sue understands the challenges that so many of us face on a daily basis in terms of juggling careers, personal health, leisure time, and the demands of having a family. Her combination of skills, personal & professional experience, and her passion for helping others allows her to coach her clients to maximize their own energy, thereby generating peak performance in all areas of their lives.

Sue is also a professional Figure Athlete, and competed in her first competition in 2004, placing 1st to earn her WNBF pro card. After the birth of her son, she continued to compete professionally and placed 1st in her first Pro Figure competition in the IFPA federation. She is proud of the fact that she is a natural athlete and credits her success to the Pilates method as the foundation to her fitness lifestyle. The Pilates method has allowed her to train hard and remain injury free due to following the amazing movement principles the method provides.

Sue has appeared in "Best Body", "Fitness and Physique", and "Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness" international fitness publications. For fun, she is always up for some friendly competition in many of the islands local running races. She also loves to play acoustic guitar, and is a self-confessed foodie and loves to cook when time allows. Sue's contagious enthusiasm and dedication to living a balanced and healthy lifestyle motivates her clients to become their personal best.

April McIntosh


April is a certified Group Exercise Instructor through NETA (National Exercise Trainers Association) and has 400 hours of yoga certification in Vinyasa and Hot Yoga. To add upon that, April is a certified Yoga Bonding instructor, which is a yoga class designed specifically for new moms and their babies. April has many other certifications and training such as HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), Core Bootcamp, Barre Blend and Kids Yoga.

"I have been a resident of Grand Cayman for 13 years and have 2 beautiful children who are the apples of my eye! I also have a loving husband Steve, who supports me all the way.

Health and wellness have been a lifelong journey, starting at my father's side in the weight room when I was only a tot. I obtained my yoga certifications in 2006 and I have continued to build upon that. I find that practicing yoga (i.e. mindfulness, flexibility, balance & strength) are
complimentary to all other forms of exercise and an essential component to a balanced and healthy lifestyle.

I love teaching small group classes, especially to mom's who sometimes need an extra bit of support and encouragement to help them along. It is a blessing to be able to offer mom & baby classes here at Sue's beautiful studio, Balance."

In addition to April's current offerings, April has big plans for adding new and innovative classes to the Balance schedule within the coming year, so watch this space.
